Skylar Buck (b. 2001) is an American special effects artist and the founder of VAMPED FX LLC, a company specializing in custom special effects prosthetics for film, television, theater, and immersive events.

From an early age, Skylar was drawn to makeup, sculpture, and the creative power of special effects. Though Skylar had played around with SFX makeup watching YouTube DIYs, she got her first professional gig with Cedar Point where she mastered the art of airbrushing. From there, Skylar self-taught herself how to sculpt, mold, and cast custom prosthetics.

In 2026, Skylar launched VAMPED FX to create and sell tailored prosthetics that elevate storytelling. The company created for its high-quality, realistic effects, ranging from subtle character enhancements to elaborate creature designs.

As a lead makeup artist, Skylar has contributed to several independent film productions, including The Whistler and They’re Coming to Get You, where her prosthetic design and application helped bring complex characters and creatures to life on a limited budget. Skylar has also worked as a consultant and effects artist for teams participating in the Cleveland 48 Hour Film Competition, helping filmmakers maximize creative impact under tight time constraints. She competed in the 2025 Special Effects Makeup Competition at the Horror Hotel Film Festival in Cleveland, earning 1st place in the Visual Effects category, as well as, received the “Best Makeup” award in the FrightFilm Competition for Shady Lakes.
